The USDA has decided to temporarily ease size restrictions on citruses eligible for export, given the extreme paucity of the harvest due to Hurricane Irma. Grapefruits will need to have a minimum diameter of 7.6 mm instead of 8.4 mm. This measure should be of limited benefit to the EC market, which is not generally interested in such small fruits. The harvest forecast was again revised downward slightly in November, to just 4.65 million field crates (- 40 % on 2016-17).
