The USA slipped back into the red in October in terms of net supply (- 8 % to 349 000 tonnes), following on from strictly the reverse situation in September (+ 8 %). Over ten months, the market was down by 3.3 %, and over twelve months (November 2018 to October 2019) it was down by 3.4 % - a practically historic fall. The market plateaued at 4 091 000 tonnes (annual rate). From the start of the year, there were just two growth months. Apart from Guatemala and Mexico, which held up, all the other origins were down: Costa Rica - 7 %, Ecuador - 1.3 %, Honduras - 3.7 %, Colombia - 14.7 %. Re-exports to Canada meanwhile were up by 1.6 %. The share of organic banana in the gross supply (including re-exports to Canada) was 9.7 %. One in three bananas from Ecuador or Colombia was declared organic.
