The mango market swelled in November

The mango market swelled in November, given the progress made by Brazilian shipments, and the high tempo they maintained. In several EU countries the reinforced heath measures in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic did nothing to aid consumption. In the middle of the month, Brazilian exports comprised mainly Kent. However, the origin’s other varieties remained available, particularly Palmer which was less in demand. While Kent rates just about held up, those for the other Brazilian varieties took a downturn. At the end of the period, demand picked up slightly, which explained the sometimes considerable price differences.

The air-freight mango market remained fairly stable throughout the month, with price variations according to the quality of fruit supplied, especially from Brazil. In the middle of the month, the first shipments from Peru added to the overall volumes. The variable fruit quality and the high proportion of small-sized Peruvian fruit occasionally led to considerable price variations.
