Thanks to an ongoing overall supply shortfall, prices still high in April

Incoming shipments from the dollar origins were once again below average. Ecuadorian volumes were again limited because of the historically high freight costs. Colombian volumes were also below average due to heavy rains at the production stage. Meanwhile in Costa Rica, the lack of rain affected production. Regarding Africa, the cumulative supply from all the origins (Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon and Ghana) was also slightly below average (- 6 %). Finally, the beginning of the seasonal increase from the French West Indies continued in April, with average volumes (+ 2 %). Meanwhile, sales proved rather stable in both Western and Eastern Europe, helping the CIRAD barometer maintain a level 20 % above average.
