Balance still prevailing on the European market in March

Once again the overall supply registered a significant shortfall. Despite the Ecuadorian production peak, incoming shipments into Europe remained a long way below average. The increased sea transport prices heavily limited spot shipments. In addition, the seasonal increases were delayed by heavy rains in Colombia and by the Harmattan in Côte d’Ivoire (- 3 %). However, the French West Indies maintained stable and near-average levels overall (+ 4 %). Furthermore, some additional unloading was carried out in Romania, Italy and Northern Europe because of the Russo-Ukrainian conflict. Yet although this temporarily increased the supply, especially in Poland, its impact remained moderate. Hence the CIRAD barometer remained stable, with an average price of €14.24 per box, i.e. a performance 13 % above average.
