Air-freight pineapple, a genuine advantage or wasted opportunity for the African origins?

Despite the end of the transport restrictions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, African air-freight pineapple exporters are struggling to find their place. The air-freight pineapple is a very small niche market, representing less than 2 % of import volumes. The African export origins have hitherto used their proximity to the European market to their advantage. However, with the increase in transport costs, this advantage is diminishing and the air-freight market, already limited, is shrinking a bit further.
