Slight price drop in April

The overall supply regained average levels from late March, thanks to the return of the dollar origins. After a particularly lean start to the year, Ecuador got back to slightly above-average levels for the season, thereby readily offsetting the Colombian shortfall. Costa Rica and Guatemala remained close to average. Regarding the African supply, the combined volumes across all the origins (Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana) were ultimately smaller than anticipated, because of logistical disruptions, and were down by 8 %. Finally, French West Indies volumes maintained stable levels 20 % below average for the season. Despite fluid sales, green banana prices dropped slightly due to the rise in the overall supply. However prices remained 12 % above average.
