Senegalese mango

After a heavily disrupted 2022 campaign, will 2023 bring back more favourable conditions for Senegalese mangos? That picture does seem to be taking shape. The bloom is set to be satisfactory, in both quantitative and calendar terms. Hence the delayed start to the 2022 campaign, nearly one month later than previous years, appears to be no more than a one-off phenomenon. The first batches from Casamance, the earliest region, are expected for late May-early June. Regarding the bigger volumes from the other production regions, they should only come into play in the second half of June. Senegalese fruit should be back in its usual slot, enabling an uninterrupted supply of the Kent variety between the West African origins (Côte d'Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Mali) and Israel. As a reminder, Senegal exported around 18 000 tonnes of mangos to Europe in 2021, and then 11 000 tonnes in 2022.
