Colombian banana

As of November 2021, total banana exports from Colombia to all destinations registered levels 3 % higher than in 2020, and 6 % above the two-year average. However, over Q1 2020, performances were well below average, because of the deferred production due to the La Niña climate phenomenon. Nonetheless, this delay was readily offset in Q2, with a historically high shipments peak during the spring and early summer, extending into July. A return to normal was observed in the second half, with the arrival of an autumn peak at levels pretty near average.

Because of trade-offs heavily in favour of the USA to offset the Central American shortfall on this market, Colombian exports to the USA rose by 35 %, as of September 2021, while they were more moderate to the EU (3 % above average).
