According to WAPA forecasts, the apple harvest will be up (5.2 million tonnes, i.e. + 10 % on 2016 barring Australia), especially thanks to production bouncing back in Brazil (+ 33 %). Yet this should not make much impact on the overall export potential (stable at 1.65 million tonnes), since this source exports no more than 60 000 t. Gala production should increase, with a total in excess of the 2-million tonnes marks (+ 16 %), a new record. Fuji production should also increase to around 748 000 t (+ 17 %), barely less than the total tonnage of Red Delicious (821 000 t), down again by 2 % this year. The potential should be stable for Granny Smith (559 000 t) and Braeburn (137 000 t). Volumes should remain steady for Cripps Pink (390 000 t, i.e. - 3 %). The potential is also set for a high level for Golden (240 000 t, i.e. + 7 %).
