With around 1.1 million tonnes expected, the Spanish lemon season 2017/2018 looks set to be similar to season 2016/2017 and once again, higher than the average of the last 10 years by 20%. The Fino lemon season will start in September to reach its peak in October. On the Italian side, the harvest is announced at good levels, similar to 2016/2017. Finally, if little Interdonato from Turkey is to come, the harvest of Lama promises to be heavier.

Nevertheless, volumes of other citrus fruits should be more moderate. The production of oranges and clementines in Spain and Morocco would be significantly lower than previous season due to the off-crop alternation. Similarly, for Spanish grapefruit, the deficit is expected to be substantial compared to last year.
