On the table oranges segment, Spain retained an abundant presence, exhausting stocks of Lanelate and Navel Powell and attempting to maintain its position with Barberine volumes. Hence South African Navel had to grin and bear it, in the face of a two-speed European market. In Northern Europe, sales remained satisfactory thanks to the programmes with the supermarket sector; while in Southern Europe sales were mainly contracted with the wholesale market. This duality faded away from week 29, with Southern Hemisphere Navel becoming more widely listed. Prices remained stable, albeit at below-average levels (- 8 %).
As regards juice oranges, Spanish Valencia Late remained the market leader throughout the month, albeit at disappointing levels 24 % below average. Maroclate was also present, though with a lower profile. Finally, the first South African Valencia volumes arrived in late July, without making any waves.
