While exports of Madagascan litchi to Europe should remain similar to last year (18 000 tons in 2016/2017), the 2017/18 season is delayed. Indeed, the production should be lighter than 2016/17 due to the weather conditions in production (lack of precipitations, mild winter) thus, the harvest zones have been expanded to mobilize the quantities expected by the exporters. Moreover, the weather conditions at sea have disrupted the logistics. Hence, the first cargo has only docked at the beginning of the week (in w50, rather than w49 as last year) in the port of Sète, marking the resumption of the fruit terminal activity whose exploitation was resumed in June 2017 by the Conhexa group.
