The Spanish lemon and grapefruit inter-professional association (AILIMPO) has just updated its lemon harvest forecast for the 2019-20 season, confirming the adverse alternate bearing effect on production. However, while the Fino potential was revised downward (7 % below average), the Verna cultivar potential remained true to the initial estimates (3 % above average). Hence with an expected 1.1 million tonnes (4 % above average), the 2019-20 harvest is set to be close to 2017-18 levels. The transition between varieties is predicted to arrive in early April.
