After several negotiation meetings between producers, exporters and the Ecuadorian authorities to set a new minimum price per box of bananas for 2024, the Ecuadorian Ministry of Agriculture published its ruling on 13 November 2023. In 2024, the average minimum per box of bananas paid to the producer will be $6.85 per 41.5-43 pound box, i.e. up by $0.35/box from 2023. Furthermore, the Ecuadorian reference FOB price was set at $9.01/box. This is the highest level recorded since this price first appeared in 2007.
