Back to growth in June 2020, with a record on a 12-month sliding scale

In June 2020, the French market supply was back to strong growth (+ 8 %). The French origins (+ 12 %) and dollar origins (+ 34 %) drove this market, while the ACP supply dipped (- 11 %) from its June 2019 level. Unsurprisingly, the first half of 2020 was excellent in terms of volumes, with a 4 % rise. Tonnages from the dollar origins and from other Member States (concept of origin unclear) saw a much quicker rise (+ 36 000 tonnes) than the market as a whole (+ 15 000 tonnes), due to a less strong presence of French bananas (- 3 %) and ACP bananas (- 12 %). Over one year (July 2019 to June 2020), the French market growth rate was 3 %, setting a record figure of 683 000 tonnes.
