FRANCE: August, more and more.
French market supply continues to break records, increasing by 4% in August 2021 compared to August 2020. We have thus reached almost 50,000 tonnes, something never seen before at this time of year! All origins, except the ACP group, participate in this growth, sometimes even in very significant proportions (see table). Unsurprisingly, supply over the first eight months of 2021 (483,000 tonnes) as well as over the last twelve months, i.e. from September 2020 to August 2021 (716,000 tonnes), continues to grow with a gain of 3% for the two periods considered. Over eight months, the supply of French bananas has performed well (+9%) in line with the supply of Dollar (+7%) or ACP (+2%) bananas. Note a very significant jump in intra-community imports (+ 87 %) and at the same time intra-community re-exports from French territory (+ 23 %).
