According to the president of Prohass, plant sales would have been extremely limited in 2022, with only 1 or 2 large-scale projects starting up. This slowdown is mainly linked to a government policy that is much less encouraging for the setting up of agricultural projects, in a context of rising production costs and a strong increase in international competition in the case of avocados. It marks a sharp break with the trend of previous years. The growth in surface area has remained major between 2018 and 2021, with an average of 6,000 ha planted per year, bringing the surface area of the orchard to 51,000 ha in 2021. The growth of Peruvian production is therefore not about to end or even slow down.
