Banana monitoring - France

After September 2022, it is October that shows a strong rebound in net supply. Indeed, it is up by 11% compared to the same month in 2021, which was admittedly a very bad vintage. All types of origin are in positive territory with a special mention for Dollar (+14%) and ACP (+3%) origins. Re-imports via a Member State confirmed their clear progression with, compared to October 2021, an expansion of around 30%. Re-exports are stable but remain at high levels. Over the first 10 months of the year, net supply rose by 2.6% and is now approaching 610 000 tonnes. The two big winners are the Dollar groups and "re-introductions via another Member State". Re-exports rose sharply to almost 200,000 tonnes over the period. Over a 12-month period, the market increased by 5% (+36,000 tonnes) thanks to the Dollar push and intra-Community flows that benefited the French market. The net annual supply amounts to 743,000 tonnes.
