The citrus sector has felt the full force of the Sino-American trade war. Beijing has decided to place a 15 % tax on a long list of fruits from the USA, including citruses. The USA exported approximately 150 000 to 160 000 t of citruses to China and Hong Kong in 2015-16 and 2016-17. This big market, which takes in 15 to 20 % of the country’s total exports, represents approximately 130 to 150 million USD.
