That is the conclusion of a study conducted by the University of Illinois, and published in the “Journal of Nutrition”, on a sample of 163 people aged 25 to 45. It showed that daily consumption of avocado increased the quantity of intestinal microbes which break down fibre and produce metabolites promoting intestinal health. It also revealed greater microbial diversity in the consumer group. These changes are correlated with the health benefits, in particular reducing fat assimilation.
