A June high
The French market banana supply maintained peak levels in June 2021. The 59 370 net tonnes sold in Mainland France set a new absolute record for June. All the origin categories were in the green, with between + 3 and + 11 %. Even introductions via another EU Member State saw big rises. We should however note the massive re-exports (21 000 tonnes) from France to other Member States, especially in Eastern Europe. The figures for the 1st half show a 3 % net supply rise to 380 000 tonnes. On a 12-month sliding scale, growth was even stronger, with the French market estimated at 712 000 tonnes (+ 4 %).
