According to the latest observations made by the Centre Technique Horticole de Tamatave (CTHT) at the end of September, the litchi harvest promises to be as early as that of the year 2020. For the record, the official date of the campaign was set for November 13. The rise in temperatures as well as regular and higher rainfall than last year should favour good growth and ripening of the fruit. The higher rainfall recorded in September should also favour the production of larger size fruits. The CTHT study concludes that the campaign is likely to start at the end of week 45/beginning of week 46, a period that is a priori satisfactory for a harvest of mature fruit in sufficient quantity to proceed with the loading of ships. However, these elements will have to be confirmed during October in order to take account of meteorological developments in the production areas.
