World orange juice market

Prices for 65°Brix orange juice concentrate have rebounded to US$2,100/tonne delivered to Rotterdam since the beginning of October, their highest level for over two years. Supplies of the raw material promise to be tight in 2021-22. Brazil, which alone controls around 50% of global juice production, has a significantly below-average crop (-12%), despite a small increase over the 2020-21 season. Florida is no better off, with production continuing to fall to one of the worst levels ever recorded (-21% compared to average). In addition, stocks of concentrated juice were at a modest level in June 2021 (311,000 tonnes in Brazil, close to the average of recent years and well below the 500,000 to 800,000 tonnes recorded between 2012 and 2015).
