The winter tomato season is definitely full of surprises again. The lingering uncertainty due to the change in the entry price mechanism quickly faded in late 2014. This was thanks to favourable conditions for extra-Community sources, with strong demand from the Russian market — a side effect of the Ukrainian crisis and the European embargo. So we might reasonably expect that the extension of the embargo until 2016 would provide these sources with further good opportunities, yet the highly uncertain economic situation in Russia and the high volatility of the rouble should instead lead to a more cautious climate.
