A strong restart in June 2020

After a break in May (- 7 %), the European market supply took an upturn in June 2020, with a highly vigorous growth rate of 8 % year-on-year. Over the first half of 2020, growth in volumes was 4.5 %, and 2.4 % (+ 158 000 tonnes) on a twelve-month sliding scale (July 2019 to June 2020), setting a record figure of 6 614 000 tonnes. In June 2020, it was the dollar origins (Ecuador, Colombia and Costa Rica) driving the market, with a rise of nearly 16 %. European production too was dynamic, leaping up by 10 %. Conversely, the ACP supply, from both the Caribbean and Africa, dropped by 5 %.

Note: as of February 2020, due to the Brexit process, UK Customs data for recent months are provisional.
