Peruvian citrus

According to initial estimates by Procitrus (the association of Peruvian citrus growers/exporters), the export potential of affiliated growers is expected to exceed 300,000 tonnes in 2022. This figure would mark an increase of around 10% compared to the volumes shipped in 2021 (266,000 tonnes). Easy-peelers, which accounts for 80% of total citrus shipments, are expected to increase by 15,000 tonnes this season, from 215,000 tonnes in 2021 to 230,000 in 2022. The problems of increased production and freight costs and the loss of the Russian market (Peru's seventh largest trading partner) could refocus the export flow towards the United States, which has already received 33% of Peruvian citrus exports in 2021.
