The avocado market might well be exceptional, with an average growth rate of 150 000 to 200 000 t per year since the beginning of the decade, yet it cannot do magic... and progress is impossible when the supply is lacking. Hence the international trade, practically stable at 1.6-1.7 million tonnes throughout the period covering summer 2016 and winter 2016-17, did not under-perform, but rather missed an opportunity. Furthermore, the prices charged on all the world’s big markets, consigning previous records to the deepest oblivion, show that demand for Hass is more dynamic than ever.
