The transition came early on the easy peelers market due to bad weather in late 2016 in Spain and Morocco. Quality problems appeared on Spanish Clemenules, as well as Moroccan Berkane and Nour, hastening the end of these campaigns and causing sorting rejects. So this new market window benefitted the Spanish Clemenvilla and the late hybrids, which got off to an early start. However, the market remained heterogeneous in terms of both quality and price until late January. Prices only started to strengthen in February, thanks to a clearer and higher quality market. Indeed, the rapid progress in late Spanish and Israeli varieties, which registered better quality, could not offset the early end of the mid-season varieties.
