Israel to produce fewer avocados during season 2017/18

While the first batches of Ettinger from Israel have already entered the market, launching the beginning of the 2017/18 Israeli season, a deficit of production has been forecasted. Indeed, after a record crop in 2016/17, Israel has announced a decrease by 25-30 % compared to 2016/2017, recovering below average levels, due to a strong off-crop alternation phenomenon. The decrease of production should mainly affect mid and late varieties ( Hass, Pinkerton) rather than early varieties, such as Fuerte and Ettinger.
