The supply bounced back strongly in September from last year, by more than 6 % (505 000 tonnes). This fine performance wiped out the downturn in August (- 3 %). Over the first three quarters, the supply was unchanged from 2018, with 4 854 000 tonnes. Imports were down by 1.1 %, with a noteworthy 2.3 % fall in the dollar supply. Ecuador and Costa Rica helped shape the trend with a one-year fall of 8.4 % and 5.3 % respectively. Peru did even worse with a downturn of 13 %. Panama (+ 11 %) and Guatemala (+ 52 %) saw clear rises, as did Colombia to a lesser extent. We should note that Brazil tripled its exports to the EU, albeit with a limited volume of just 16 000 tonnes. European production was up nearly 9 %, thanks to Martinique and Guadeloupe making a comeback, but also a rising supply from the Canaries. Over twelve months, the European market stabilised at just under 6.5 million tonnes.
