According to the initial estimates issued by Ailimpo, the Spanish inter-professional association for the lemon and grapefruit, the next Fino harvest could bring back record levels. After a 2022-23 campaign hard hit by climate vagaries, the young orchards entering their prime and the absence of incidents during bloom/fruit-setting helped reverse the trend for 2023-24, with an expected increase to nearly 17 % above the four-year average. Consequently, with 990 000 t, volumes of this early-season variety should marginally beat the 2020-21 record. The Verna harvest, which feeds the market from spring to summer, is also set for a decent level.
