The professional organization PROHASS forecasts an increase by 15% in exports for 2018, which already reached a record level of 245,000 t in 2017 (customs sources). Not surprises there, considering the growth of the orchard. Peru has planted 28,000 ha of Hass variety and has grown by approximatively 3,000 ha / year in recent years. The main growth areas are in the province of Lambayeque, which has an early production schedule (3700 ha registered in the first half of 2017 in the irrigated area of Olmos) and the area of “la Sierra” (beginning of the Andes, in the provinces of Ayacucho, Cusco and Arequipa).
