The air-freight pineapple market, excluding Victoria, is on the rise. Between 2012, when it represented approximately 10 000 t, and 2014, when it broke the 12 500-t mark, it went up by 20 %. The Sugarloaf pineapple is in large part responsible for this progress, and is no longer content with being a foil for its illustrious elder the Smooth Cayenne. Quality remained highly varied overall, and the market was more segmented than ever by brands and sources.
