According to the Inter-Professional Fruits Group, production is just 214 000 t, down by more than 40 % from the previous record season, and more than 15 % below the four-year average. Maltaise, whose export season is underway, has an even bigger shortfall, with a harvest less than half that of 2016-17. Tunisia exports between 15 000 and 25 000 t of oranges per season. While France remains by far the main outlet, shipments to the neighbouring Libyan and Algerian markets are tending to progress.
