The purpose of this guide is to promote thinking about using alternative and complementary techniques to phytosanitary products, in the tropical cultivation systems of French overseas departments. It suggests specific solutions, implementing a low-consumption cultivation system design method inspired by those developed in other guides already published (“STEPHY” multi-crop guide, “CEPVITI” wine growing, vegetable crops and fruit arboriculture guides). This is a generic method which can be applied to the main crops of the French overseas departments: sugar cane, banana, pineapple, perennial fruit crops (especially citruses and mango), market gardening and staple crops (roots and tubers).
