The end of the tropical grapefruit campaign is proving very difficult. However, the seasonal fall from Florida began with volumes still in shortfall, accentuated by sorting rejects due to quality concerns. However, sales remained extremely slow because of the high price levels. Hence stocks were available for sizes 32/36/40, and prices dropped slightly, although they were already close to cost price. Some importers decided to limit their loads in order to shorten a season which could be considered catastrophic. Hence this sluggish context on the tropical segment favoured the Mediterranean grapefruit, with sales revitalised. Although the supply started to fall (Spanish, Israeli and Turkish campaigns winding down), volumes and prices were above average for previous years.
